Here are a few artists that are way better than me and that I think deserve more attention:
Mame is a paradox. They manage to render the muscle-bound, fireball-throwing, rip-roaring characters of the Street Fighter series in gentle pastels and edgeless form. Their art stands out not through crazy spectacle, but through a unique appreciation for simplicity, both in technique and subject matter. All Mame needs is some paper and colored pencils to provide their following with a much-needed dose of wholesome fun, delivered by characters who would normally be clobbering the life out of each other.
Lunchkunn’s character designs are top-shelf. I admire their ability to convey individual designs down to the facial structure, which requires a degree of subtlety and understanding that I clearly don’t yet possess. This is someone who has a vision and story for each of their characters, so if you’re interested in the narrative side of things, Lunchkunn might be your bag. They’re currently helping develop a free-to-play card game called the “Bacon Project.” I’m not sure whether that’s a placeholder title.

By far one of the most criminally underfollowed artists I’m aware of, Pierre Chanteraud demonstrates a downright masterful understanding of line and sequential art. He combines palpable, realistic form with Escher-esque patterning to create a look that’s equal parts familiar and alien. His down-to-earth stylizations, dynamic compositions, and unrelenting passion for detail revive a look that hasn’t been prevalent since the golden age of comic books.
@TimboTheChamp (some adult content)
Timbo’s a lot like Pierre Chanteraud: a totally underappreciated artist whose work harkens back to late-20th century design sensibilities. His style shifts from time to time, but it’s when his art looks straight out of a gaming publication from 1992 that I’m the most transported. Slightly caricatured realism in tandem with stark, graphic lighting make for an aesthetic that I can’t help but wax a little nostalgic for.
